Yacaman To Start 9th for Firestone Freedom 100

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (May 27, 2010) – No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán will start 9th in tomorrow’s Firestone Indy Lights Firestone Freedom 100 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

With the track temperature reaching higher than 120 degrees, each driver was allowed two laps, with the average speed dictating their qualifying time. Yacamán was fifth in line to qualify, and he clocked an average speed of 185.691 mph.

Earlier in the day, the young Colombian driver was second quickest in both the morning and afternoon practice sessions, but the changing weather conditions slowed down the times.

“Qualifying was not as expected,” Yacamán said. “We chose the wrong gear package, and it was too warm and too windy. Because of that, our RPMs down the straight were not where we wanted. We go up as a team and down as a team, but our race car is amazing, and we will be really strong tomorrow.”

Yacamán will make just his second start at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway tomorrow afternoon in front of thousands of race fans. The Friday race on the historic racetrack will be held just two days before the Indianapolis 500 on well-known “Carb Day”.

Green flag will wave for the Firestone Freedom 100 at 12:30 p.m. ET on May 28th. The race will air on VERSUS and streaming video on IndyCar.com. Tickets can be found by going to www.brickyard.com.

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing was formed in 2010 as a partnership between two successful racing entities.
