Yacaman To Start 8th on the Streets of Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 17, 2010) – Colombian Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán will start 8th in tomorrow’s Firestone Indy Lights race on the Streets of Long Beach. Aboard the No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara, the young driver will have his best starting position of the season when he takes on the 1.968-mile, 11-turn street course that twists through the heart of the California city.

With fans filling the grandstands and watching from the surrounding high-rise buildings and parking garages, the only thing pretty about the qualifying session was the weather as five cautions flags slowed the momentum of the drivers during the hour-long session.

Even with the disruptions in track time, Yacamán saved the best for last as the he laid down his flying lap on Lap 27 of 28. His time of 1:15.8568 (93.423 mph) will put him on the fourth row for tomorrow’s 45-lap race.

“The session was red flagged a lot,” Yacamán said. “Cars were going out left and right! The car is not perfect yet, but we are getting there. I am confident for the race. I have had two solid races where I have passed other cars, and I am confident in myself that I will be able to make up ground from qualifying. Tomorrow will be a hard race.”

Following a morning practice at 8 a.m., the 45-lap race will take the green flag at 10:40 a.m. PT. The race can be seen LIVE on streaming video on Indycar.com. Tickets can be purchased at www.tickmaster.com or by calling (888) 82-SPEED.

The Colombian Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán is supported by CREPES & WAFFLES, MAC BATTERIES, TUVACOL, SSANGYONG, GASES DE OCCIDENTE, SIESA, CINE COLOMBIA and ALCALDIA DE CALI.
