INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (May 25, 2010) – After topping the speed charts during the Firestone Indy Lights open test less than two weeks ago, No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán is eager to pick up where he left off for this week’s Firestone Freedom 100 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 28th.
The Friday afternoon race on the historic racetrack will be held on Miller Lite Carb Day in front of thousands of race fans.
"Running on Carb Day, before one of the most glamorous and important races in the world, is pretty cool,” Yacaman said. “Just the fact that is one of the most famous tracks in the world makes this event really special.”
The Firestone Freedom 100 will be Yacamán’s second Firestone Indy Lights race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but when he returns to the track, he will have more confidence and momentum than he did at this time last year.
“Last year I didn’t quite know how important this event is, but now I understand it and appreciate its heritage,” the driver said. “When we tested here, we topped the charts. It was a pretty cool feeling, and hopefully we will be able to do the same thing in the race."
Yacamán will first be on track Thursday, May 27th for practice and qualifying for the Firestone Freedom 100. Green flag will wave for the Firestone Freedom 100 at 12:30 p.m. ET on May 28th.
The race will air on VERSUS and streaming video on IndyCar.com. Tickets can be found by going to www.brickyard.com.
