Yacaman Ready to Start Season with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 24, 2010) --  Colombian Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán will take to the streets of St. Petersburg Friday with a new team, a new car and a new determination.  Aboard the No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara, Yacamán will begin his quest to claim the 2010 Firestone Indy Lights championship.

Yacamán, whose nickname “Tigrillo” means “Tiger Cub” in Spanish, was a rookie in 2009 and scored a season-best fourth place finish in just his fourth start on his way to finishing 12th in the championship. With a full-season now under his belt, the 19-year-old is anxious to take to the 1.8-mile, 14-turn street course of St. Petersburg.

“I am really excited about the first race of the season,” Yacamán said. “We have had a really fast car in testing, and it is really consistent and adaptive to my driving style. I think we have a lot to show this year.”

The recently announced partnership between Cape Motorsports and Wayne Taylor Racing will provide Yacamán with a wealth of experience as both Cape Motorsports and Wayne Taylor Racing have multiple championships amongst many disciplines of American motorsports. The team and the driver expect great things this season with the ultimate goal of a championship.

“Although the program came together relatively quickly, we are confident that Gustavo and team will be very competitive this season,” said Technical Director Dominic Cape. “We have worked tremendously hard preparing and testing this car, and we have high expectations.”

Yacamán will first hit the streets for practice beginning at 11:55 a.m. on Friday, March 26, and then again for practice the following morning, March 27, at 11:15 a.m. Qualifying will be Saturday at 3:10 p.m. After a morning warm-up on Sunday, March 28 at 8:55 a.m., Yacamán will begin his quest for the title at 12:45 p.m. with the 45-lap race on the Streets of St. Petersburg.
