ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (MARCH 27, 2010) -- Colombian Gustavo "Tigrillo" Yacamán will start 10th in the Firestone Indy Lights opening round on the Streets of St. Petersburg, Sunday March 28, driving the No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara. The 19-year-old will make his first start with his new team on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn street course in Sunday’s race.
Racing in nearly perfect weather in sunny Florida, Yacamán claimed his starting position with a time of 1:07.4998 on Lap 19. In total, he completed 29 laps during the 60-minute session that saw two caution flags.
“Qualifying was a little difficult,” Yacamán said. “The car had great balance, but we were just lacking speed. We are going to make some changes tonight for tomorrow’s race, and my goal is to have a solid top-10 finish. This is a new team, and we are building to reach our full potential.”
After a morning warm-up, the green flag on the 45-lap race will drop at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 28. The race can be seen LIVE on streaming video on Indycar.com. For tickets, visit www.gpstpete.com or call 727-898-4639.
