WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (July 5, 2010) – No. 10 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Gustavo Yacamán finished eighth in the Firestone Indy Lights Corning 100 at Watkins Glen International.

Yacamán qualified eighth on the 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course late Saturday evening, but an engine change relegated the No. 10 machine to the back. He started the race in the 11th position, but it did not take long for the young Colombian to gain positions as he quickly moved up two spots in just the first lap.

After an incident between the No. 11 machine of Pippa Mann and the No. 40 of Dan Clarke brought out the full course caution, Yacaman was able to pick up another spot on the Lap 5 restart to move up to the eighth spot, and followed that with gaining another position quickly after.

By Lap 18, Yacaman was in the sixth spot and battling for the fifth position.

“It was a very eventful race and very hot. I was making my way through the field, and while I was fighting for fifth place, I went in too deep in the bus stop,” the driver said. “That caused me to spin, and I dropped a couple spots. The incident caused a right rear puncture, which didn’t let me get back to our pace. I want to thank the guys for changing the engine over night.”

Not one to give up, Yacaman worked his way back to the eighth spot before the checkered flag flew.
