McKenna Ready to Take on New Jersey Motorsports Park

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (June 23, 2010) – After a slow-leaking tire ruined Patrick McKenna’s chance for four straight-podium finishes this past weekend, the young Irishmen and the Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing team has little time to dwell on the past as they head straight to New Jersey Motorsports Park for this weekend’s Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda doubleheader.

Though McKenna has never competed on the 2.17-mile, 12-turn road course before, he is excited about learning the new track and his chances this weekend.

“I’m focused on doing a good job in New Jersey and trying to get back into the championship fight after the disappointment of Iowa,” McKenna said. “Although it’s a road course, I can take with me a lot from the Iowa weekend. I’m looking forward to getting back on road courses and learning a new circuit this weekend, which is always fun.”

McKenna is currently second in the championship standings to Sage Karem (125 to 93). The Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing team is also second in team standings with 88 points (18 points behind the leader, Andretti Autosport).

McKenna will first hit the track on Thursday, June 24th with practice at 11:20 a.m. and 4:20 p.m. ET, and then again on Friday, June 25th at 8:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET. Qualifying will take place Saturday, June 26th at 9 a.m. ET, with the first of two races at 2:05 p.m. The second of the double-header will be held Sunday, June 27th at 2:05 p.m.

Both rounds can be seen live on HDNet in addition to live timing and scoring on USF2000.com. Tickets can be purchased by going to www.njmp.com.

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing was formed in 2010 as a partnership between two successful racing entities. With leadership from brothers Nicholas and Dominic Cape, and along with Wayne Taylor and his organization in Indianapolis, the team campaigns cars in Firestone Indy Lights with Gustavo Yacamán, as well as the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda with drivers Josh Fielding and Patrick McKenna.
