NEWTON, Iowa (June 17, 2010) – After claiming victory at O’Reilly Raceway Park just less than three weeks ago, No. 2 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing driver Patrick McKenna is anxious to get to the track at Iowa Speedway. The young Irishmen will be trying to win back-to-back races in the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda this Saturday, June 19th.
Though this will be his first start on the 0.875-mile oval, McKenna is confident that the he and the team will have a good result.
“I am really looking forward to racing Iowa Speedway,” McKenna said. “Although I have never been there before, I have heard it is a lot of fun, and I can’t wait to get out there and run some laps.”
After claiming his first US victory in front of a huge crowd the night before the Indy 500, McKenna is hoping to once again be the first to cross the finish line when the checkered flag is out this weekend.
“I hope to continue that momentum on to Iowa from ORP, and I'm confident that we have a good car on the ovals, so I'm looking for a strong result and to be able to fight for the win again,” the driver said.
McKenna will first hit the track on Friday, June 18th with testing at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. CT (12:30 p.m., 3 p.m. ET) with practice at 7:30 p.m. CT (8:30 p.m. ET).
