Fielding, McKenna Ready to Return to the Track at O’Reilly Raceway Park

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (May 25, 2010) – When Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing drivers Josh Fielding and Patrick McKenna get on track this weekend at O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) for Round 3 of the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda, they will both be confident with the goal of standing on the podium on Saturday evening.

The open test earlier this month gave both drivers their first laps around an oval. McKenna, driver of the No. 2 machine, showed no fear as he went on to lead every session. Fielding, driver of the No. 3 car, too was quick, but an incident early in the test limited his track time. Still, both proved during the test that they are contenders in the 50-mile race that is held the night before the Indianapolis 500.

"My main goal for the race is the same as any other driver and that is to win, Fielding said. “However, I am realistic and due to limited testing, I will be aiming for top three as my team mate (McKenna) was extremely quick throughout the test days.”

“I really enjoyed the test we had at ORP, driving on short ovals is an all new experience but a lot of fun,” McKenna said. “After having had a good test at ORP earlier in the month, we will be gunning for a strong result on race night.”

Both drivers understand the importance of competing in a race the night before the Indianapolis 500.

“I’m excited to be racing at ORP the night before the 500, the race has got a lot of history to it as a warm up for the fans before the big event on Sunday,” McKenna said. “I’m sure the atmosphere will be fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to the whole week starting with the Road to Indy Summit.”

"I think that racing at the same weekend as the Indianapolis 500 makes the race more exciting,” Fielding said. “I also think that there will be a larger amount of publicity due to the larger crowds been there for the events in the week, which is always a good thing.”

Round three of the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda will be held the night before the Indianapolis 500, May 29th, at nearby OʼReilly Raceway Park. Practice starts May 28th at 2 p.m., with qualifying at 1:30 p.m. the following day, May 29th. Green flag for the 50-lap-race will wave at 6 p.m.

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing was formed in 2010 as a partnership between two successful racing entities. With leadership from brothers Nicholas and Dominic Cape, and along with Wayne Taylor and his organization in Indianapolis, the team campaigns cars in Firestone Indy Lights with Gustavo Yacamán, as well as the Cooper Tires Presents the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda with drivers Josh Fielding and Patrick McKenna.
